Welcome to the website of Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. For over 109 years, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. the nation’s first sorority established by African American women on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., has provided “service to all mankind.”
Eta Omega was chartered on May 6, 1922 and has been serving the Louisville Metropolitan Area for over 94 years. It’s an exciting time for Eta Omega as we continue to strengthen our chapter with over 240+ members ranging in age from 22-100 years old.
Eta Omega has a rich history in the Louisville community, where we provide educational opportunities to middle and high school students through our ASCEND and LEAF programs. We also host an annual Derby Brunch in May when we award over $70,000 to deserving college bound students.
Eta Omega fully implements the 2014-2018 International Program: Launching New Dimensions of Service. Launching New Dimensions of Service consist of five target areas: Educational Enrichment, Health Promotion, Family Strengthening, Environmental Ownership and Global Impact. We also participate in our signature enrichment program ASCEND and International Community Impact Days.
As the 2016-2017 Eta Omega Chapter President, I am honored to have the privilege to serve as the leader of one of the oldest chapters in our Central Region. I invite any member who is looking for a chapter, to join Eta Omega. Membership in Eta Omega makes me smile!
Yours in Service,
Dr. Erika Collins
